I'd like you to tell me what you understand a podcast to be, please. This is a result of a recent conversation leading to intrigue on my part. Comments will be screened in the short term to avoid bias in answers caused by reading other people's responses. I'll unscreen them and do an update with explanation at a later date.

I may find I need to rephrase this later for more honed responses, but I'm hoping not.

When did "om nom nom" replace "yum yum" exactly? And where did it come from? I'm guessing it's around ten years ago but I have no idea where it came from and how it gained popularity.

I don't write much here these days, do I? Must fix that.

So, here's a query. I'm hearing the phrases "good times", "bad times" and "sadface" a lot of late. Why? Do they come from some TV show or something?

Car insurance... you pay for a year, right? Well, if you surrender the policy before the end of that year shouldn't you get some money back?

I wrote asking the policy to be cancelled immediately and just got word (rather later than I expected) that they have cancelled it and will not debit me for another year when it is due for renewal. Er... right. What about a refund? Don't I get one? I mean, what's the point of cancelling if I don't gain anything by it? Hmph! My insurance ain't cheap and there were 4-5 months left to run on it!

Okay, so they're supposed to deliver six items of furniture between 7.30am and 1pm. We're halfway through that time and there's no sign of them yet. At what point is panic and/or irritation justified?

If you're sitting on a train in a window seat and the person in the aisle seat next to you is reading his newspaper with his nearside elbow periodically prodding you in the ribs, what are you supposed to do? Particularly if you shuffle a bit to nudge his elbow to make it clear he is invading your space and he totally ignores it? Obviously the dark neutral stare doesn't strike fear into quite everybody I encounter.
