We were stung by that, oh, six years ago now. Worked out less to buy a new machine with 4 years warranty than paying whoever it was for 4 years worth of extended warranties, and they still took nine weeks, n pounds and three visits to solve a bloody-stupid-and-simple-to-fix problem. Oh, and the phone calls from people the following year trying to flog us cheaper extended warranties...
